Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan shot at parade

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot during a protest march in the eastern city of Lahore.

His motorcade was shot today as it was passing through the eastern part of the country. Local media reported that he suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his feet. Four members of the same type of Justice Movement Party (PTI) were also injured, but no deaths were reported.

Imran Khan was taken to the eastern city of Lahore for treatment after being injured, CNN reported.

Agence France-Presse reported that the suspect who opened the fire, armed with an automatic weapon, was shot dead and several people were injured at the scene. A senior aide to Imran Khan said it was an assassination attempt.

The BBC reported that the shooting took place in Lahore, Dacheng, in eastern Pakistan. It is also said that Imran Khan's injured part was the leg, but the details are not yet clear.

Imran Khan's assistant, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, has yet to respond to inquiries about the incident.
